There will be a Town potluck picnic on Saturday the 1st of October at 12 noon at the Sheridan Town Hall. The purpose of this gathering is to provide an opportunity to meet your fellow residents of Sheridan, share some really good food, and just have a plain old good time. The Town will provide beverages, grilled hot dogs, paper plates and eating utensils. Please bring your favorite hot dish and join us.
Sheridan is on the web at www.sheridantownship.org The town board will be better able to communicate with and keep the residents informed as to what is taking place in the Township. Thanks to David Plunkett for his time and talent in setting up our Town website. David plans to have a computer at the picnic and show some of the features you can find on the website. For comments and suggestions about the website you can call David at 949-1792 or Jim Hoover at 455-1744.
Dogs are required to have rabies vaccinations and be licensed. You can license your dog by sending proof of vaccination when you pay your first tax installment and Robin Wirth will return your vaccination slip and dog license with your tax receipt.
Voter registration will be required for elections beginning in 2006. You can do this through the Town clerk by presenting a social security card or driver’s license. Jerry will also be able to do this at the town picnic.
Marilynn Bartos, our Town assessor, will be doing a re-assessment of the Town in 2007. This is being done to comply with state guidelines.
The Land Use Plan was adopted in May and I would like to thank Dave Bartlett, Marilynn Bartos, Mike Boesl, Phil Gorsuch, Paul Holland, Jim Hoover, Robbie Robinson, Mark Stuber, and William Wiseman for their efforts and hard work on the Plan. You can view the Land Use Plan on our website.
The Sheridan Town Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. The meetings are held at the town hall or at the clerk’s home, which is at E3961 County road V. You can call any board member to find out where the next meeting will be held. Probably the two most important meetings are the budget meeting in November and the annual meeting in April. These are held in the town hall. You are welcome to attend any board meeting. Anyone with items or issues needing Town action can get on a meeting agenda by contacting one of the town officials listed below, please contact them prior to the town board meeting.
